Azerbaijani ambassador visits the Federal State of Saxony

On November 1, 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, paid an inaugural visit to the Free State of Saxony.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani Ambassador met with the Minister-President of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, the President of Landtag, Dr. Matthias Röβler and the Minister of State for Science, Sebastian Gemkow.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Saxony. It was noted that the relations have a great potential for development. In particular, the importance of strengthening of relations in the fields of economy, education and science was emphasized.

Ambassador Aghayev also visited the Dresden State and University Library and met with the director general of the Library, Katrin Stump. During the meeting, the Ambassador had an opportunity to get acquainted with the oldest manuscript of the Azerbaijani epic "Kitabi-Dede Gorgud", which is believed to date back to the 16th century and has been meticulously kept in this Library for many centuries.

During the visit, the state flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was hoisted on the buildings of the Saxon State Chancellery and the Saxon Landtag.
